Eldera Stands For The Era of The Elders

We believe that the wisdom of our elders - with decades of experience, knowledge, love, loss, and common sense - is the most valuable resource we can share with the younger generation to help them imagine a better future for all.

Eldera was founded in 2020 with a bold vision: to unlock the time and wisdom of older generations and harness their insights to shape a more connected and resilient world.

What began as a platform for intergenerational mentorship has evolved into a research and innovation hub dedicated to exploring the intersection of aging, health, and social connection.

Today, Eldera is pioneering new models of engagement by merging longevity and technology. Through cutting-edge research,
AI-powered solutions, and strategic consulting, we
are redefining what it means to grow older—where wisdom is valued, aging is reimagined, and generations thrive together.

A virtual village with a real soul.

Common Questions

  • Eldera is a purpose driven company that transforms increased human longevity from a healthcare crisis into a global opportunity. Eldera built the online platform, resources and safety checks necessary to turn older adults (60+ years old) into mentors and friends for young people (6 to 17 years old) over weekly virtual conversations. Young people benefit from social-emotional learning and increased resilience, while older adults benefit from a sense of purpose and community. Everyone wins and neither side requires to be paid. By leveraging AI, we unlock the wisdom and scale of the older generation as a new resource to benefit society. Eldera has been already recognized as a Social Prescription by The Cleveland Clinic and as a Case Study for Using AI to Reconnect Generations by the UN's AI for Good, has been featured by MSNBC, USA TODAY, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and CNN named us as one of their Good News of the Year. Most recently we were featured on the front page of the Boston Globe and recorded our first TEDx Talk about how embracing older adults can change the world.

  • Safety is our top priority. Every mentor undergoes a rigorous vetting process including criminal background checks and identity verification. All video sessions take place on our secure platform, are recorded for safety, and follow strict guidelines. Our AI Chaperone monitors for potential risk in conversations, parents can review session recordings and our dedicated trust & safety team monitors interactions.

  • We use AI thoughtfully to enhance - never replace - human connection. Our AI Chaperone helps match mentors and mentees based on highest benefit for both. It also reviews conversations for any potential risk, keeping mentors, mentees and Eldera safe, while keeping the authentic human relationship at the center of every interaction.

  • We take a personalized approach to matching, considering factors like superpowers, interests, expertise, personality traits, and communication styles. Both mentors and families complete detailed profiles, our AI algorithm proposes the matches with the highest likelihood of forming long term bonds and our team carefully approves potential matches. Once matched, we facilitate an initial meeting where everyone can get to know each other before committing to regular sessions. 94% of our matches talk weekly and 72% of those talk for a year or more!

  • To become an Eldera mentor, you should:

    • Be 60 years or older

    • Pass our background check and verification process

    • Have reliable internet access and basic video chat ability

    • Be willing to join virtual sessions including orientation, training and community socials.

    • Most importantly, have a kind heart and a curious mind!

    • Between 13-17 years old

    • Have parental / guardian consent

    • Have access to a device for video calls

    • Are interested in connecting with and learning from an older adult and teaching them about your life and priorities!

    • Parents will need to complete a profile sharing their child’s interests and goals for the Eldera relationship.

    • Provide consent for your 6 to 17 year old child’s participation

    • Join a brief elective orientation call with our team

    • Support your child’s regular attendance and provide feedback

  • We love partnering with communities! Whether you're with a school, library, community center, or other organization, we can create a customized program. Contact our partnerships team at hello@eldera.ai to discuss bringing Eldera to your community.

  • Eldera offers corporate partnerships to support working parents and their families. Our workplace programs can help reduce caregiver stress and boost employee wellbeing. Contact our partnership team at hello@eldera.ai to learn about our corporate offerings.

  •  Eldera has a subscription model that ensures we are available to everyone who can benefit from our platform. We call it the Generosity Subscription. When you join Eldera, a member before you already covered your participation and you can pay it forward to one new member (Gratitude Level = $10/month), multiple members (Generosity Level >$20+/month - our most popular) or choose to take the sponsored membership (Curiosity Level = No Cost to You). We have just launched our Impact Level that allows you to gift Eldera to your community, local school or your organization.

  • Each 30 to 90-minute session is unique to the mentor-mentee pair, but typically includes meaningful conversation, shared interests, and life wisdom. Mentors might share stories from their experience, or explore mutual interests in art, science, music, or play games, write books or songs together. The key is organic, genuine connection in a safe nurturing environment.

  • Most Eldera pairs meet once a week for 30 to 90 minutes, but the schedule can be flexible based on everyone's availability. We encourage consistent meetings to build strong mutually beneficial relationships, while understanding that schedules sometimes need adjustment.

  • We provide:

    • Initial orientation and ongoing training

    • Regular check-ins with our community team and experienced mentors

    • Resources and conversation guides

    • A community of fellow mentors who engage via our private platform or in weekly socials!

  • You'll need:

    • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera

    • Reliable internet connection

    • Basic comfort with video calls

    • Our team provides technical support and orientation to make sure everyone feels comfortable with the platform.

  • We reserve the right to make the best matches across all our members. We understand the importance of cultural connection and try our best to accommodate such requests in our matching process. You can indicate these preferences in your profile and we will take them into account.

Together, we are building more than a company.

We are building a new social infrastructure where aging is an opportunity and the health of older adults is an asset to society.
