I have six decades of life experience and would love to share it with someone who can benefit from it.
“A mentor is defined as someone who shares their time and wisdom to guide another to greater success.”
Am I qualified to mentor?
If you:
Have six (or more!) decades of life experience
Have an internet connected device that can access Zoom
Can pass a background check
Possess kindness, generosity, and curiosity
... then you are qualified to mentor a lucky child - click the button below to sign up, and we will get you ready to meet your mentee!
What should I expect?
We will provide you with the platform, the community, and the resources to empower the next generation, share your stories, and build upon your legacy. Because we believe that everyone who has lived at least six decades has wisdom to share, and we developed a way to unlock it and make it accessible to the world.
You will be doing so much good! Your time with a mentee can literally change their life.
This generation of kids can benefit greatly from the attention of a wise adult that is interested in them and their thoughts as individuals, outside of their academic or athletic responsibilities. And your influence will be felt by the entire family. One of our Eldera moms wrote the following to her daughter’s mentor:
“[My daughter] is very rational and practical, so she lacks literary imagination or understanding. When you asked her if trees could feel happy, I felt her eyes twinkle because she has never gotten that kind of question before. We are very happy to have you.[...] I wish I could be a mother like you.” - Eldera Mom

Eldera is not a tutoring program. Our intention is to facilitate trusted relationships through 1 to 1 video chats that are helping kids develop resilience, soft skills, learn the art of conversation, practice listening, and open up to new perspectives on the world, through your life experience and wisdom.

At Eldera, we offer a range of membership options to fit your needs and budget. After joining our platform, you will have the option to sign up for a free or paid monthly subscription.
Our free membership option allows you to connect with a mentee and participate in weekly conversations at no cost. This is a great option for those who are interested in trying out our platform and getting a feel for what we have to offer.
Our paid monthly subscription offers additional benefits, including access to additional mentors, specialized workshops and events, and more. This option is great for those who are looking for more personalized support and guidance, or who want to take advantage of all that Eldera has to offer.
No matter which membership option you choose, Eldera is committed to providing a safe and effective platform for intergenerational connections and personal growth.

A matchmaker never reveals her secrets. :)

First, gather six decades of experience. Once you have that, sign-up here. Then we conduct a background check, provide orientation and training, and get you ready for your first mentee!
-
Six decades of life lived and an interest in helping and connecting with others. You will be spending about an hour a week with your mentee and will be invited to join all Eldera community events.
-
We will connect you with the parent or legal guardian of the mentee. All of the digital communication must include the parent or legal guardian of the mentee. The only direct communication with the mentee occurs through the Eldera video conversations that you have with your mentee. We require all other communication to occur directly through the Eldera platform so that we maintain a safe space for everyone.
-
You do not need a Zoom account or any other video communication account. Eldera provides the mentor and the mentee’s parents with the password-protected video link that should be used for all of your conversations.
-
There is no mandatory minimum or maximum. Eldera is designed to work with the schedule and desires of the members. Most mentors spend between 30 and 90 minutes per week with us.
-
This is up to the individual. Over 90% of the members have signed up for standing weekly conversations with the same mentor or mentee, but Eldera is designed to meet the needs of each individual. For those that prefer to meet new mentors or mentees at a certain interval, we facilitate that as well.
-
For the first Eldera conversation, we recommend a time no sooner than 72 hours from your match introduction. However, this is just a suggested time. Eldera gives the control to the mentor and parent to confirm or recommend another time. After the first conversation, the mentor and the parent decide when is best for the next conversation.
